Sensible 4’s all-weather autonomous driving software will be used in Rob.Y, a flexible, electric vehicle platform by E-Shock. This Italian-Finnish collaboration brings an exclusive solution for automotive OEM’s and Tier1’s, thus reducing vehicle development time and costs.

“E-Shock is a great example of a leading European technology company enabling future mobility. I’m delighted to see our autonomous driving software being integrated into this vehicle platform”, says Harri Santamala, CEO of Sensible 4.

E-Shock offers the best and most flexible integrated mechatronic solutions for vehicle performance control, safety, and robotization. Sensible 4 develops self-driving software that allows autonomous driving with minimal computational requirements in all weather conditions, including adverse variable weather such as snow, and heavy rain.

While E-Shock Rob.Y is designed from ground up to be robotized, combining the Sensible 4 software to the Rob.Y platform results in a leading European autonomous electric vehicle platform that can be used as a base for various end customers products.

First on-road calibrations, pilot tests and the first fully autonomous passenger transport service will be conducted within the European Commission’s Joint Research Center (JRC) testing campus in Ispra this summer.

More information

Sensible 4 Ltd is a Finnish self-driving tech company that has solved a major obstacle in autonomous driving, varying weather. The company develops full-stack autonomous driving software that turns any vehicle into self-driving. The unique technology combines software and information from several different sensors, enabling vehicles to operate in all weather conditions, including snowfall and fog. In 2022 it will launch the world’s first commercial all-weather software product, Dawn, for SAE level 4 driverless last-mile shuttles.
The founders of Sensible 4 have been developing autonomous vehicles since the ‘80s. In February 2020, Sensible 4 secured 7 million dollars in series A funding round from Japanese investors and the technology has won multiple awards, including 1st place in the Dubai World Challenge for Self-Driving Transport 2019 competition and the Finnish Engineering Prize in 2020.

E-Shock is a company of the e-Novia group that offers the best and most flexible integrated mechatronic solutions for vehicle performance control, safety and robotization. E-Shock can reduce vehicle development time and costs with pre-validated vehicle motion control software, integrated with autonomous driving solutions, sensors, chassis and other hardware solutions. Made up of a pool of highly qualified talent, over the years E-Shock has proven to be a company at the top of mobility innovation. The e-Shock product portfolio: • Intelligent sensors and control units that intelligently manage and control vehicle dynamics in all conditions, increasing safety for users and improving vehicle performance (motorcycles, ATVs, tractors, work vehicles, commercial and passenger transport vehicles). • Dynamic Cortex, a set of mechatronic and software solutions that acts with intelligent vehicle actuators supporting robotization and enabling integration with autonomous driving applications. • Rob.Y, based on Dynamic Cortex, is the most comprehensive robotic platform for vehicles designed for professional services and advanced mobility solutions. Rob.Y is the first digital frame that gives the user the best possible experience with the highest standards available today. It is the ideal platform to design and build new fully robotic and autonomous vehicles.
